Petty is basically at least God and Jesus. The Holy Spirit he likes to light on fire, then sass MTV about never quite hearing all his own words when they broadcast his video, which won Video of the Year, I believe (back when I cared about such things).

Ahem. That MTV-missing word would be “joint”, for $200 Alex. Tom Petty is many things, nearly all amazing, but man is not a stutterer.
